Meet The Team

Matt Reid - General Manager/ Head Coach
Matt's professional career took off when he joined the Washington Capitals organization, playing for AHL teams like the Portland and Hershey Bears, as well as the ECHL's Pee Dee Pride and Carolina Stingrays. He concluded his playing days in the Netherlands with HYS Hague, where he was part of four championship teams and received multiple MVP and Offensive awards. Coached by several current NHL coaches, including Jared Bednar of the Colorado Avalanche, Matt credits his success to his former coaches and lifelong friends, including NHL and Stanley Cup champions Erik Cole, Willie Mitchell, and Derek Lalonde.

Eric Cole - Scouting
Erik Cole, our North Carolina Scout, brings an impressive resume to our program with 892 career NHL games, an Olympic medal, and a Stanley Cup victory. Having grown up playing against HC Matt Reid, Erik also shared the ice with him at Clarkson University. His role extends beyond scouting, as he will actively engage with our players throughout the season. “It’ll be great to work alongside Reider and his staff; I look forward to helping in any way I can,” Erik shares, emphasizing his commitment to our team's success.

Blake Sorensen -Scouting
Blake Sorensen, a talented athlete hailing from Chicago, began his journey in hockey with an impressive youth career in western Canada. He showcased his skills at SUNY Plattsburgh before transferring to St. Norbert, where he excelled, finishing his senior year with a remarkable point per game average. After six successful professional seasons in Europe, including a stint with HC Matt Reid in Bstoke, Blake transitioned to coaching. He has experience at nearly every level and is currently the head coach for Team Illinois, the next generation of players.

Tony MacAulay - Scouting
Tony MacAulay is a renowned figure in the Maryland and Virginia hockey scene, having dedicated 25 years to building the prestigious DeMatha Catholic High School hockey program. His commitment to player development has seen countless athletes advance through the NCAA ranks, earning him numerous Coach of the Year accolades. With a rich professional playing background and experience as a Head Coach and GM in the ECHL, Tony’s impact extends beyond the rink. His instrumental role in Reider Hockey reflects the positive culture he fosters, making him a beloved figure in the hockey community.

Nate Elliot -Scouting
ate Elliot hails from Minnesota and has an impressive hockey background. He played youth hockey alongside Erik Cole in Oswego, NY, before teaming up with Reid and Cole on the Adirondack Thunder, showcasing some of Northern New York's best talent. Nate had a standout career at SUNY Oswego, achieving a remarkable point-per-game average as a defenseman in his senior year. After two successful years in professional hockey, he continues to be an active member of the Minnesota hockey community.

Kevin O'Reilly - Scouting
We're thrilled to announce that Kevin O'Reilly has joined our Reider Hockey staff, focusing on player recruitment and tournament teams. Currently based in Charleston, SC, Coach O'Reilly leads the Charleston Jr Stingrays 16U Tournament team and has been serving as a Scout for Reider Hockey in the Southeast District. We believe his expertise and regional insights will be invaluable in discovering and nurturing the next generation of elite hockey talent. Kevin's impressive track record includes successfully placing over 25 youth players into prestigious boarding schools across the Northeast and Midwest.
